Ground
Development
We continue to work hard on developing our new grounds. It requires allot of time and effort from everyone at the club and we are always looking for volunteers that can help with their expertise.
Flood lights
The club has
now purchased floodlights and teams have been training on the field on weeknights.
In addition to allowing us to make use of the fields at night it has also enable
the club to save money as we no longer need to hire other facilities locally to
train.
New Kitchen
Getting teas and coffees on a Sunday morning has been tough in the last few months.
Drinks have been available at the cricket clubhouse at the Whiteley village green
but, some visitors may have found it too much hard work. Gary Falloon has built
a new kitchen in the timber building and this is likely to be open very soon.
Thank you Gary for another great contribution for our club.
Parking
We ask you all to be careful where you park your car and where visiting teams
park their car. We need to preserve as much of the grass as we can. Having 18
teams in the club and with the need to play and train at the grounds, we need
as much of the grass as playing fields as we can.
Access
Road
Progress has also been made on the access road. The area behind the
changing rooms has been cleared and can also provide parking spaces.
We know that the condition of the road also needs attention and we hope to be able to put some gravel down in the next couple of months. This should improve the surface for all.
Money is key for the long term ground development. We are looking at raising some of the money privately, so if you have any expertise on fund raising please let us know. In addition we are looking to apply for funds from the Football Foundation. This will take time but it may be the only way we can raise enough money to afford what we all want for our club.
The
club has prepared a plan for the ground development with include Levelling the
playing field, developing existing facilties to have our own clubhouse and improve
overall facilities for visitors. Please contact your team manager or Steve if
you want to help.
